Smoothbeam Laser

Smoothbeam laser therapy is an effective way to treat acne on your face and back. This gentle, safe treatment uses a laser to target overactive sebaceous glands in your skin - the root cause of acne. It is also used to treat enlarged oil glands on the face known as sebaceous hyperplasia that manifest as small yellow bumps on the skin, like small doughnuts.

What Will the Smoothbeam Laser Treatment Be Like?

Topical anaesthetic cream is routinely applied on the skin an hour before the treatment. You will feel a light prick and a spray of coolant on the skin during treatment. This coolant will protect the skin from burns or blisters.

What Are the Risks/Side Effects of the Smoothbeam Laser?

Mild redness after the treatment will subside within an hour. Very occasionally, individuals may develop light brown laser marks that would fade with time.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is minimal to no downtime and you can resume your activities soon after treatment.

Will My Acne Relapse After Treatment?

It has been shown in studies on acne of the back that the skin may remain clear of acne for up to 6 months. It is important to take care of your skin even after the acne has cleared.

How Does Smoothbeam Laser Help With Acne Scars?

The Smoothbeam laser heats up the old collagen in the scars and stimulates the production of new collagen. This new collagen in turn improves the appearance of the depressed acne scars by reducing the depth and softening the edges of the scars.

How Many Times Do I Have to Return for Treatment?

The number of treatments depends on the anatomical location of the scars, their depth and the desired results. In most cases, at least 5–6 treatments may be required for noticeable improvement. Treatment may be performed every 3 to 5 weeks. Maximum improvements may only be seen 6 months after a series of treatments. It may not work effectively for deep scars. However, Smoothbeam laser has the advantage of having minimal to no downtime involved after the acne scar treatment.
