What is MiXto fractional CO2 laser?

Conventional CO2 laser resurfacing is associated with considerable ‘downtime’ because it causes extensive areas of rawness that takes at least 2 weeks to recover and it carries a high risk of complications such as skin discoloration and occasionally scarring. The MiXto fractional CO2 laser is a revolutionary delivery system that works by applying CO2 laser energy in a very narrow, scanned beam. Fractional means that only a fraction of the skin surface is exposed to the laser beam, leaving untreated skin around each treated micro spot. This results in faster natural healing and a shorter recovery time.

Some patients notice an Improvement in skin texture and colour after just 1 treatment.

How does the MiXto laser work?

It delivers tiny beams of light energy to the top and mid layers of the skin resulting in

  • New collagen formation for up to 6 months following treatment
  • Immediate shrinkage of damaged skin
  • Softening of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Removal of age spots

What kinds of benefits can the MiXto laser treatment offer?

  • It helps to improve acne scars and pore size, fine lines and textural irregularities.
  • It can also be used to remove pigmentary disturbances associated with aged skin.
  • The laser energy levels can be adjusted to target deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) resulting in deep new collagen formation. This leads to improvement of deeper wrinkles and scars and possibly skin tightening.
Tighten skin, generate collagen, reduce wrinkles – all without the scarring and discoloration risks of the conventional CO2 laser.

How long is the MiXto SX treatment?

Treatment time for a full face is approximately 25 minutes.

What will I look like after the treatment? Is there any recovery period?

Your skin will look red like a sunburn for about 2 – 3 days after the treatment. The skin will then peel from day 3 – 4 and this is usually complete by day 5 – 6 leaving new rejuvenated skin with improved colour and texture.

How should I care for my skin after a MiXto SX treatment?

You will be prescribed a moisturising healing cream after the treatment. Makeup can be applied from day 3 when the skin is less red and starting to peel. Do not try to remove the peeling skin by wiping; let the skin peel off naturally. Apply a sunscreen daily during the healing phase.

How many times do I need to return for a MiXto SX treatment?

Superficial wrinkles and skin defects usually disappear after one treatment. Deeper wrinkles and acne scars may need 2 to 3 treatments, spaced 1 month apart.

What are the risks and side effects of a MiXto SX laser?

Side effects are uncommon and may include hyperpigmentation (darker discolouration) and this is often mild and temporary. Rare side effects include blistering or scarring.

The MiXto fractional CO2 laser treatment has been proven to be safe for the face, neck, chest and hands. This laser technology for skin resurfacing provides rapid onset of results with minimal post-laser downtime and potential side effects.
